Expedition journeys to the ends of the earth
Why Visit the Polar Regions?
The polar regions represent the last true wilderness on Earth. These are places of profound silence, overwhelming scale, and raw natural beauty that changes everyone who experiences them. An expedition to Antarctica or the Arctic isn't just a holiday—it's a life-defining journey.
Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest continent—and the most pristine. Imagine cruising past cathedral-sized icebergs, watching thousands of penguins waddle across the ice, and witnessing humpback whales breach in waters so clear you can see 30 metres down. This is nature at its most spectacular and humbling.
The Arctic offers a different but equally compelling experience. The midnight sun illuminates dramatic fjords, polar bears hunt on sea ice, and indigenous cultures have thrived in these extreme conditions for thousands of years. Svalbard, Greenland, and the Norwegian Arctic coast each offer unique adventures.
These expeditions are led by expert teams—naturalists, historians, photographers—who share their knowledge and passion. Zodiac excursions bring you close to wildlife, while onboard lectures deepen your understanding of these remarkable environments.
Best Time to Travel
Antarctica
November to March is the Antarctic summer. Early season (Nov-Dec) offers pristine snow and penguin courtship. Mid-season (Jan-Feb) brings penguin chicks and most wildlife activity. Late season (Feb-Mar) sees whale concentrations and dramatic sunsets.
Arctic
June to August is prime Arctic season. The midnight sun means 24-hour daylight for wildlife viewing. Polar bear sightings peak in summer. For Northern Lights, visit Svalbard in late autumn or early spring.
Booking Ahead
Polar expeditions have limited capacity and sell out 12-18 months in advance. Early booking secures the best cabins and often includes early-bird savings. Don't leave it too late!
Getting There
Antarctic voyages typically depart from Ushuaia, Argentina (via Buenos Aires). Arctic expeditions leave from Norway, Iceland, or Greenland. We arrange all flights and pre/post accommodation.
