Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Overnight Flight to Borneo
Fly overnight to Sandakan in Borneo, via Kuala Lumpur.
Day 2
Arrive Sandakan
Arrive in Sandakan, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay. Welcome dinner included this evening.
Day 3
Rainforest Discovery Centre & Proboscis Monkeys
Visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre for a guided walk along raised platforms through the canopy. Continue to the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary to observe these unique primates up close. Optional evening night walk in search of nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4
Orangutans, Sun Bears & River Cruise
Visit the world-renowned Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, then the Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Transfer to your jungle lodge on the Kinabatangan River and enjoy an evening wildlife cruise.
Day 5
Oxbow Lake Cruises & Pygmy Elephants
Early morning cruise to Pitas Oxbow Lake to spot monkeys and pygmy elephants. Afternoon cruise and guided village tour. Best elephant sightings March to October.
Day 6
Transfer to Mount Kinabalu
Transfer to the Ranau district for a two-night stay surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Kundasang and Mount Kinabalu.
Day 7
Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Springs
Explore the Sabah Tea Plantation, then visit the famous Poring Hot Springs. Enjoy the therapeutic waters and explore the rainforest canopy walkway.
Day 8
Transfer to Kota Kinabalu
Journey through UNESCO-listed Kinabalu National Park with a scenic hike, then continue to the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort for six nights of beach relaxation.
Day 9
Day at Leisure or Mari Mari Cultural Village
Relax at the resort or join the optional Mari Mari Cultural Village excursion to experience indigenous Borneo tribal culture, traditional food, and performances.
Day 10-13
Days at Leisure
Four full days to enjoy the resort's pools, beach, spa, championship golf course, and water sports. Explore the onsite 64-acre Rasa Ria Nature Reserve or venture into Kota Kinabalu.
Day 14
Return Flight
Leisurely morning at the hotel, then transfer to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.
Day 15
Arrive UK
Arrive home early morning at the end of an unforgettable wildlife adventure.
